Kusoru says he won’t be coming back to the US for any tournaments
According to fubarduck’s twitter feed, Final Round champ Kusoru won’t be returning to the US for any more tournaments, at least any time soon. Apparently after his win instead of being met with congratulations he was hounded by salty players wanting to MM him, as if beating him in a money match would somehow prove his win to be illegitimate. Kusoru, via twitter:
“If I travel abroad again, I know that everyone will look at me with murderous intent. All I want is to have fun playing the game”.
“I was also told something like “thanks for giving a wake up call to the USA and making us better” but I definitely won’t ever be going back, so I hope other Japanese players will be able to do that from now on.”
And another quote, this time from Japanese top player Frieda, shortly after Kusoru’s win:
“As someone who is here in person, the only thing I can say is that the Americans are not laughing about this”
For better or for worse, Americans do not take losing well, especially when it comes to Marvel. All I know is, if Kusoru doesn’t make it to Evo it will be a damn shame.
